GFD serves as the umbrella body for all disability organisations in Ghana. We empower and advocate for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities nationwide. Our mission is clear: to foster inclusivity, equality, and dignity for all. We strive for a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can fully participate in every aspect of life-education, employment, healthcare, and social engagement.
Explore our website to learn about our work and discover inspiring stories that fuel our mission. Whether you have a disability, are a family member, policymaker, supporter, or simply interested in making a difference, join us in building a more inclusive and accessible Ghana.
At GFD, we believe collaboration is key to breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and creating a brighter future for persons with disabilities. Become part of our family as we embark on this transformative journey of empowerment.
We look forward to working with you as our partners in this and subsequent years. 2024 is a particularly significant year because it’s an election year. GFD therefore looks forward to engaging with political parties to ensure their manifestos and plans address the needs of persons with disabilities.
With warm regards.
Joseph Atsu Humadzi
President, Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD)
As a national umbrella, GFD currently has nine national member-Organisations of Persons with Disabilities. The member organisations are autonomous and work to address their specific disabilities related issues whilst GFD works on general/cross-cutting disability-related matters.
We exist to advocate the rights of Persons with Disability by influencing policies, programmes and activities at the national and local levels and to strengthen the organisations of Persons with Disability.
