GFD organizes ICT training

Ghana Federation of the Disabled has organized an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training on database application for its member organizations on Monday 4th May 2009 at the Ghana Society for the Blind (GSB) computer Laboratory.
 
The ICT programme which is part of the GFD/DANIDA Project intends to equip OPWDs in the use of database application on how best the software can be used effectively. Participants were selected from GAB, GSPD, GNAD and staff of the Federation.

The participants were educated in database application process on how to enhance networking of the organisations. Two resource persons from the Kofi Annan-Indian ICT Training Centre facilitated the training.

 In a related development, Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) has expanded its ICT training to the middle belt of the country. Five (5) participants from Brong-Ahafo Region, four (4) participants each from Ashanti Region and Eastern Region to be Trainers of Trainees (TOT) in the use of internet.

The exercise was held in Kumasi, on 2nd May 2009. GNAD branches in Volta Region, Greater Accra, Central Region and Western Region (southern sector) are expected to benefit from a similar program.

In November 2008, the Northern Belt of Ghana- i.e. Upper East, Upper West and Northern Region had their training.  A study by GNAD Officials substantiates that the ICT training programs is having a positive impact on the development of the association.
