Mr. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, president of the sports wing of the Ghana society for the physically disabled (GSPD) has appealed to the government to invest in disability sports. Mr. Mohammed said this initiative would boost the moral of the disabled. The call was made at the opening of a two day workshop on sports organised by the association in Kumasi.
The workshop which was attended by over 30 participants was sponsored by Ms Naomi o’ Reilly, a volunteer from Ireland, and aimed at improving the structures that facilitate the disability sports. He acknowledged the assistance the sports wing has received from united agency for international development (USAID).
Mr. Mohammed also took the opportunity to speak against discrimination against the disabled and asked the government to address the problem.
