Micheletti Company Limited, an international construction company in Ghana has renovated the Accra Rehabilitation Center (ARC). The refurbishment of the Center is estimated to cost about GHC100,000 (hundred thousand) Ghana Cedi. Much of the work involved resurfacing of the compound of the ARC.
Michelleti did the reconstruction work for free in response to an appeal from the GFD. In a brief handing over ceremony, the president of the GFD, Mr Samuel Asare expressed a profound appreciation to the chief executive of Michelleti Mr Jimmy Castagna and the board of the company.
Mr Asare further noted the resurfacing of the center has made the compound more accessible to persons with disability. He emphasized that accessibility is an important to an inclusive society.
The Accra Rehabilitation Center comprises of offices of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, the Ghana Association of the Blind, the Ghana National association of the Deaf, the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled and host of other disability organizations.
| Article 6 of the National Disability Act (715) entreats all owners of public buildings to ensure that such facilities are accessible to and available for use by persons with disability. |
