New Blue Vision, an NGO has donated detergents, toys, biscuits and medical equipment worth over GHC 30, 000 to the Secondi School for the Deaf, Twin City Special School and the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The donation was made at an event to mark this year’s valentine day organised by the NGO for the beneficiaries.
Mr. Alfred Biney, Director of the NGO made the presentation to Mr. Kontoh Osei-Bonsu, Assistant Headmaster of the School for the Deaf; Madam Marry Hayford, Deputy Director of Nkwanta Regional Hospital, and Miss Elizabeth Amewowor, headmistress of Twin City special school for the intellectual disability.
Madam Gladys Ansah, Chief Executive Officer of the Akroma Plaza and You’84 Supermarket and Hotel also presented food items to the school for the deaf, twin city Special School and Father’s Home Orphanage.
Mr. Biney said some parents abandon the Disabled and urged parents with financial difficulties to contact the Special Education Division through Social Welfare for support. He said New Blue Vision was securing land to construct a Vocational School for the Disabled. He also appealed to the government to ensure that all persons living with Disabilities benefit fully from the National Health Insurance School (NHIS).
