Honourable Roger Gale a renowned British parliamentarian for Margate, Herne Bay County has paid a working visit to Ghana. The one week voluntary work program was facilitated by the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), UK.
During the Visit Hon. Gale, a disability right advocate was introduced to the operations and structures of GFD and its member organizations. He also familiarized himself with the key disability issues in the country, and shared his vast experience in advocacy with members of the federation. He also took the opportunity to pay courtesy call to the British High Commission in Accra, Department for International Development (DFID) and Rights and the office of the Voice Advocacy Initiative (RAVI).
Roger Gale is senior member of the UK’s parliamentary Speaker’s panel of Chairmen. He is also a member of the Procedures Committee of the British parliament and holds office with a number of Charities in the UK. In Mid 2008, another British MP Hon Keith Hills of embarked on a similar voluntary mission through the collaboration of VSO. |
