As part of the “strengthening the Disability Movement in Ghana Project”, currently being funded by DANIDA, the Ghana Federation of the Disabled hosted an organizational development training program for its member organizations. The objective of the program was to equip the various OPWDs with current trends in organizational development and strategic management.
Virtual Point Associates the facilitators of the seminar took the participants through core areas such as financial management, fund development, human resource development, coordination and networking, advocacy and other relevant themes. At the end of the one week program which was held at Akosombo between 4th and 10th October 2009.
During the closing session, the director of Virtual Point Associates Mr Obed Owusu-Kissi urged the participants to be abreast with current trends in the development sector. Mr Kissi also challenged the leaders of the various organizations to remain committed to the objectives of the disability movement. He noted that material incentives alone cannot adequately serve as a source of motivation hence the need to develop some passion for the work in the sector.
In their closing remarks the president and director of the GFD Mr Samuel Kwesi Asare and Ms Rita Kyerema Kusi expressed a profound appreciation to Virtual Point Associates for the intense training and guidance in key components of organizational development and strategic development. The leadership of GFD also reiterated their gratitude to DANIDA for its commitment to the development of the disability sector.
