The Ghana Society of the Physical Disabilities (GSPD) has held a workshop on fundraising strategy at the Valley View University, Oyibi. The program took place on Friday 17th -19 Sunday April 2009. The three day workshop aims at equipping the participants drawn from the districts and regional branches of the association, with fundraising skills.
Mr. Julius Akuokoh the facilitator of the programme told the participants to be proactive and never give up in their fund raising efforts. He also emphasized that fundraising is not always about raising physical cash but may include appeal and request for discount on and donations of goods and services. Mr Akuokoh further stressed that the key to funding is effective communication and identification of prospective donors. “Effective organizational communication is paramount in fundraising just as it is vital to the organization”, he added.
The participants were taken through proposal writing, the components of fundraising and the smart plan (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time bound).
