The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has introduced a brail version of its manifesto at a brief ceremony held at the conference hall of the Ghana Association of the Blind (GAB) on Tuesday 11 November 2008.
The program was attended by a cross section of representatives from the various organizations of persons with disabilities. The NDC was represented by its National chairman Dr Kwabena Adjei who was flanked by the party’s deputy director of communication, Seth Ohene Ofori and Vivian Ankrah, respectively.
In his key note address, Dr Adjei assured the disabled community that when the political administration of the country is entrusted into its hands, the party would ensure the promotion of the welfare and rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The NDC chairman also noted that when given the opportunity PWDs could contribute towards national development. He stressed that best way to achieve the objective is to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities in governance.
Dr Adjei finally presented 30 copies of the brailed manifestos to the Ghana Association of the Blind. Mr Peter Obeng Asamoah, the director of GAB, received the books on behalf of the Association and thanks the NDC for the gesture.
The Convention People party (CPP) became the first Ghanaian party to introduce a brail version of its manifesto.
