Child Aid and Youth Development Network (CAYDNET) in collaboration with Edinburg Global Partners (EPG) a charitable student organization at the University of Scotland has established a skill training centre for persons with disabilities (PWDS) in Amantra Nkwanta, a suburb of Birim central district, in the Eastern Region.
During the Commissioning of the 2,006 cedi project, the Municipal Chief executive for the district, Mr Frank Bosomtwi noted that the government is committed to the objectives of the National Disability Act.
He pointed out that the Act seeks to protect the rights of persons with disabilities, as enshrined in article 29 of 1992 constitution. Mr Bosomtwi also indicated that it is in compatible with the spirit of the constitutional provision to ensure the mainstreaming of disability issues into national development strategies.
The Municipal District Director for Birim South Mr Samuel Asiedu Boahene called upon Ghanaians to fight for the protection of PWDs. On his part the district director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) assured the gathering of continued support from the commission.
