Ghana’s participation in the 2010 DCI World Para-cycling Championship in Canada has failed to materialize. According to the National Cycling Association funds it requested from the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the National Sports Council was not granted.
Ghana was to have been represented by Ajara Mohammed, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe (captain), Elvis Alipui, Alem Mumuni, Ernest Ayisi, Richard Mensah, Bismark Kyei, Abraham Armah, and Alfred Adietey Sowah. Members of the team feel that government is not keen on their participation due to the nation’s low regard for disability sports.
Ghana qualified for the championship at last June’s ten-nation African Para-cycling Championship in Burkinafaso where the team won eight medals, including three gold , four silver medals and one bronze.
