Blind Withdraws Daughter From School

A blind man in the Dornye Township of the Wa District in the Upper West Region has reportedly sacrificed the education of her daughter for his parochial interest, according to the Ghanaian times.

Mr Joh Yorkyilla, the blind at the center of the story, is allegedly said to have withdrawn her daughter from school and bought a motor bike instead of paying for her school fees. Mr Yorkyilla embarked on the action to enable his daughter to ride and accompany him on his daily movements.


The disclosure was made during a celebration program of the Ghana’s Day of the Child at Wa on 31 August 2008. Members of the Knight of Children clubs and the Miidan Education Trust used the occasion to appeal to the deputy regional minister to intervene for the young girl to continue her education.

 Ghanaian times report did not however provide Mr Yoryilla account of the story.
