The Ghana Federation for the Disabled in collaboration with the Ghana Aids Commission has organized one day HIV/AIDS awareness for the New Juaben Municipal branch of the Ghana Society for the Physically Disabled (GSPD).

The local GSPD chairman Mr Kofi Asare use the occasion to remind his colleagues that condom usage remains the most pragmatic approach to the prevention of the disease since sex is biologically driven, a reality that makes it inevitable in the lives of most people.

The Municipal Chief Executive Nana Kwesi Adjei Boateng advised persons with disability not to engage in socially deviant behavior in expectation of public sympathy. Mr Boateng also advised against unlawful sex since that increases the chance of acquiring the HIV virus.

On his part the Chairman of the occasion Rev Johannes Batista Torwee urged persons with disability to refrain from immoral acts.
Over the past years, the GFD and the National Aids Commission have organized several public campaigns on HIV/Aids for the various organizations of persons with disabilities in the country.
