Project Coordinator to Joint Disability Movement Project.
The Joint Disability Movement Project is constituted by Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD), Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD), Ghana Association of the Blind (GAB), Ghana Society of the Physical Disabled (GSPD), and their Danish sister organizations. The project shall strengthen The Disability Movement in Ghana through building advocacy and organizational capacity, and promote coordination and networking. The Project coordinator will be employed by Ghana Federation of the Disabled.
Duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate the project components of GFD, GAB, GNAD and GSPD
- Coordinate and ensure timely periodic reports of the project partners.
- Prepare the joint reports.
- Coordinate detailed plans and budgets of the project partners.
- Ensure high quality of all project reports and financial statements.
- Travel to the project districts to enhance the cooperation at district level and promote the networking with official as well as civil society bodies.
- Document all processes involved in the implementation of the project
- Establish and maintain a close cooperation with the project coordinator at the project office in Denmark
- Facilitate visits from the Northern partners and consultants.
Desired Profile of the Candidate
- Applicants must have minimum 1st degree in Social Work/ Social Science or equivalent and have more than three years solid and proven practical experience in programme/project coordination and management – inclusive budgeting and financial management.
- Prior experience of monitoring and reporting project activities at regular intervals, ensuring quality and consistency of reports as well as collect/collate and analyse external and internal reports periodically.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
- Capacity to discuss and negotiate budgets and plans
- Experience with developing project management skills within an organisation.
- A team worker and team builder
- Excellent communication and intercultural skills.
- Proven ability to work under little or no supervision.

Flex Fund
Supporting new initiatives within the disability movement
Grant overview
The Flex Fund (FF) is a mini project fund within the joint DANIDA project 2010-2013, facilitated by the Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD) and aimed at supporting new and ground breaking initiatives promoting cooperation, advocacy and organisational development.
Even though the emphasis shall be on cooperation among the OPWD-wings and GFD member organisations not participating in the joint project, other groups are encouraged to apply for the FF.
Eligibility criteria
- The applicant must be a group of wings of at least three (3) established OPWDs, GFD member organizations not participating in the joint project or any other civil society grouping with members from at least three (3) OPWDs.
- The applicant’s leadership must demonstrate due diligence and must be authorized/recognized by GFD member organizations.
- The applicant should have a relevant, concrete and time-bound strategy out of which activities are drawn for the proposed project.
- Activities should be innovative and promote inclusion of PWDs in civil society organizations and the society at large.
- Projects should have a maximum of six (6) months implementation period.
- Administration of project funds:
- The applicant should demonstrate the ability and commitment to managing projects and funds.
- There should be a bank account for the operation of the funds with at least 3 signatories.
- There should be (an) authorized person(s) charged to manage the funds.
- There should be a system of reporting to all participating members and to GFD.
Guideline for project proposal preparation
- Name and address of applicant, title of project, details of contact persons for the project.
- Background of the applicant, e.g. how was it elected.
- Past projects: success (es) and failure(s).
- Strength(s) and weakness(es) of the applicant.
The proposed project:
- The objective(s) and intention of the project.
- Activities and timelines(project period).
- There should be clear table setting out activities, target groups, responsible committee/person, expected outcomes, monitoring indicators, possible risks and means of verification of results.
- Reflexions on sustainability of the proposed project.
- A clear activity budget not exceeding GHC 7,000.
- A maximum of 10 % may be used for administration and board/committee meetings.
